Large-Scale Impact | ACE Consortium (73 districts) + Montana State University
One of LSA’s unique skill sets is working with multiple partners in collaborative efforts intended to have large-scale impact. LSA’s work in Montana illustrates this in tits combination of long-term and strategic assistance and support statewide. LSA has provided technical support and professional development to a 73-district consortium in collaboration with Montana State University. Focusing on improving standards, enriching curriculum, and improving teaching skills, the Alliance for Curriculum Enhancementhas had a significant impact on the creation of proficiency- and standards-based classrooms. Most recently, LSA’s Executive Director was also keynoter at the 2024 MSU Proficiency-Based Education Summer Institute, where this topic amplified and deepened the work of these 73 districts and more. This work remains ongoing. Helping teachers and students benefit from proficiency-based curricula is key to LSA’s mission and impact.

Keeping Global Learning Leaders in Top Form | Hong Kong International School
HKIS offers an American-style educational experience to a student body drawn from more that 45 nationalities. Dedicated to the values of inquiry, compassion, and service, LSA has worked with the faculty and leadership of HKIS to make sure that the school meets US and international standards for instruction and accreditation through a performance-based and values-based curriculum and larger school program. Because of LSA’s long-term assistance, the highly capable and dedicated staff of HKIS have made the school among the top 50 international schools worldwide.

Empowering Students, Building An Exceptional Faculty | St Labre Schools
LSA’s team is especially adept at working in school settings with special educational and cultural priorities, such as the St. Labre Schools which provide superior education to Native American students from the Northern Cheyenne and Crow tribes. Placing great importance on Native American culture and tradition, this Catholic organization also cultivates Native American languages and culture along with Native American literature, history, and tribal government. LSA has worked for many years using its “Bold Moves” paradigm to expand the curriculum and program offerings and to prepare faculty to deliver a contemporary 21st century proficiency-based educational experience, grounded in and respectful of two deep traditions.

LSA’s team embodies and reflects a perspective that is both broad and deep, offering an interdisciplinary capacity without peer. This is especially reflected in the work and outreach of Dr. Marie Hubley Alcock, LSA’s founder. Renowned for her vision, she is equally recognized for her inspiring thought leadership through dozens of publications and hundreds of public presentations and keynotes, most notably and passionately at the intersection learning and place. For the last several years, Marie has been keynote presenter and speaker at multiple regional conferences for A4LE (Association for Learning Environments), inspiring new thinking and helping to shape this critical conversation on the creation of dynamic and responsive learning environments as intentionally-planned spaces to promote learning and inquiry.
